Nissan Motor India will unveil its new sub-4 metre MPV on December 18. While this model will share underpinnings with the Renault Triber, we expect it to get significant exterior and interior upgrades.
At present, Nissan only sells the Magnite sub-4 metre SUV in India. However, the company has plans to introduce three new models in the calendar year 2026, the sub-4 metre MPV being one of them. It will also launch a mid-size SUV, named Tekton, and a bigger five-seater SUV.
In a conversation with Moneycontrol earlier this year, Nissan Motor India Managing Director Saurabh Vatsa said that new models and network expansion would mark the beginning of a stronger phase for the brand.
He even gave launch timelines for the three new models, stating that the MPV will be introduced in February 2026, the mid-size SUV around June 2026 and the five-seater SUV around January 2027. The two new SUVs have been developed ground up.
In July this year, Renault launched the new Triber. It gets a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which delivers 72PS of maximum power and 96Nm of peak torque. The transmission options include a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT. These powertrains will be available with the Nissan MPV as well.
In terms of design, we have been informed that the Nissan MPV will be completely different from the Renault Triber, as is the case with the Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger sub-4 metre SUVs.
So far as features are concerned, we expect the Nissan MPV to get LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED fog lamps, LED taillamps, touchscreen infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, digital instrument cluster and automatic climate control, among others. We also expect six airbags to come as standard.
We expect the Nissan MPV price in India to be between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom).
