The country's largest SUV manufacturer, Mahindra & Mahindra, will launch the Dark Edition of its born electric vehicle (BEV), the BE 6, today. This will be the first major style enhancement for the BE 6 since its launch in November 2024.

Several teasers of the BE 6 Dark Edition have been dropped by Mahindra on social media. Like it happens in most of the Dark Edition models, we expect the BE 6 Dark Edition to get an all-black treatment on the outside and inside the cabin. More details will be revealed at the time of the launch.

Over the past few months, Mahindra has updated several models with special editions. We have already seen the company introducing the Scorpio N Carbon Edition and XUV700 Ebony Edition.

Talking about the Mahindra BE 6, the electric SUV is priced between Rs 18.90 lakh and Rs 26.90 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available in multiple variants, from Pack One to Pack Three, with optional home charging units, a 7.2kW charger for Rs 50,000 or an 11.2kW unit for Rs 75,000.

Built on Mahindra's INGLO platform, the BE 6 offers two battery options -- 59kWh and 79kWh. The smaller pack is rated for 556km (ARAI), while the larger claims 682km on a single full charge.

The 59kWh variant produces 231hp, while the 79kWh version delivers 286hp. Both offer 380Nm of torque. Mahindra claims the larger-battery BE 6 accelerates from 0-100kmph in about 6.7 seconds.

On an AC supply, the 59kWh battery charges from 0-100% in about 8.7 hours with a 7.2kW unit and six hours with 11kW. The 79kWh pack requires about 11.7 hours (7.2kW) or eight hours (11kW).

With DC fast charging, both battery packs can be charged from 20% to 80% in roughly 20 minutes, the smaller using a 140kW charger, the larger capable of 175kW. The BE 6 supports home wall box installations and public charging stations.

The rear-wheel-drive SUV uses a 3-in-1 integrated motor, inverter and transmission unit. It offers multiple drive modes, adjustable regenerative braking, a boost mode, and single-pedal driving capability.

Inside, the BE 6 is equipped with twin 12.3-inch displays running the MAIA infotainment system, powered by a Snapdragon 8295 chip. Features include 5G connectivity, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio setup in higher trims.

The BE 6 has a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating. Six airbags are standard, with higher trims adding a seventh airbag, Level-2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera.
