BMW Motorrad unveiled the much-awaited F 450 GS at the EICMA 2025. While the motorcycle will soon be launched in India, it will serve as the new entry point to the BMW adventure family, which also includes models like the F 900 GS, F 900 GS Adventure, R 1300 GS and R 1300 GS Adventure. Select BMW Motorrad dealerships have started accepting pre-bookings for the F 450 GS.
Following the discontinuation of the G 310 GS from the Indian market, the new F 450 GS will be the most affordable BMW Adventure motorcycle in our country. Like the G 310 GS, the new F 450 GS will also be manufactured in India by TVS Motor Company as part of its partnership with BMW Motorrad.
The design of the new F 450 GS follows BMW's latest GS styling approach, inspired by the larger R 1300 GS. Key elements include the LED headlight with the 'X' DRL signature, a slim flyline flowing from the front beak to the narrow tail and a functional radiator grille. The motorcycle targets accessible ergonomics through a revised rider triangle, a high and close handlebar, and a standard two-part seat. The standard seat height is 845mm, with 830mm and 865mm options available through accessories. A modular windshield setup, hand guards, off-road footpegs, and multiple luggage solutions add to its touring and daily-use flexibility.
The new 420cc, liquid-cooled, two-cylinder engine is completely redesigned for this motorcycle. It produces 48hp at 8,750rpm and 43Nm at 6,750rpm. The powertrain uses a 135-degree crankpin offset and a balance shaft to reduce vibrations and deliver a more characterful response. With a 14-litre tank, the motorcycle is claimed to offer a theoretical range above 350km. The F 450 GS is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
A new steel tubular space frame forms the chassis, integrating the engine as a load-bearing component. The suspension setup uses a 43mm KYB upside-down fork and a KYB rear shock with 180mm travel at both ends. The bike rolls on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear cast-alloy wheels fitted with 100/90-19 and 130/80-17 tyres, respectively. Braking is handled by a 310mm front disc with a Brembo four-piston caliper and a 240mm rear disc with a ByBre caliper. BMW Motorrad ABS Pro is standard, along with Dynamic Brake Control and Dynamic Traction Control. A 6.5-inch TFT display, LED lighting all around, and a USB-C charging port are standard.
While the international-spec F 450 GS has four variants (Basic, Exclusive, Sport and Trophy), we will have to wait for the official announcement from BMW Motorrad to see how many variants are made available in India. We expect the F 450 GS price in India to be around Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom).
