Youth dies during police constable recruitment test

Bhubaneswar, Oct 20 (PTI) A youth died during physical endurance test for recruitment of police constables here today sparking off demonstrations and allegations of negligence.Sk Imadat Ali (22) of Phulnakhra, near here, collapsed during a 1600 metre marathon race and was declared dead when rushed to the hospital, police said.Following the death a road blockade was put up at the Nalco square by people who alleged negligence and delay in taking the victim to the medical facility.Senior police officials, including the in-charge of recruitment of constables have refuted the allegation saying there was no negligence on the part of the authorities.Chairman of police recruitment board V Thyagarajan said Ali was rushed to the hospital immediately after he collapsed.''''The death was unfortunate and tragic,'''' he said.
