Google Street View services to capture the Amazon next

Google's popular, and controversial services, Street View is all set to explore some unexplored, never-thought-of options. Expanding its services further, Google would soon roll out Street View services in Amazon, Rio Negro rivers in North West Brazil. Beginning soon, Google with help from Foundation for a Sustainable Amazon (FAS), a charity group will start photographing the Amazon basin.

In an attempt to bring forth the effects of poor global sustainability and grave issues of deforestation that is creeping into Amazon, members of the Foundation for a Sustainable Amazon (FAS) approached Google, two years ago, as per a blog post on Google. The challenge for Google lies in the fact that its Street View services were made keeping modern, smooth roads into consideration. But, the cause at hand is also important. With Street View services, and FAS joining hands, perhaps issues of deforestation, climate change, and others could be better addressed to and could potentially reach a wider audience.

Google team, additionally will also train the locals in the operation of their equipments, and also leave behind their photography equipments so that while they're away, these locals can continue with the work and create a voluminous database of images.
