Connect ties up with CtrlS to launch cloud services
Data and voice services provider Connect on Wednesday entered into an agreement with data centre company CtrlS to launch cloud computing services in Punjab.

The partnership is aimed at providing a range of services which include data centre infrastructure, disaster recovery, storage, backup and other managed services. As a part of the strategic alliance, Connect will target the needs of the enterprise segment across business verticals.

"The newly launched services will enable us to quickly deliver multiple data management cloud services that are in high demand in our key markets. Customers can leverage these cloud services to enhance overall data protection capabilities across their organisations," Arvind Bali, CEO and director, Videocon Telecommunications Ltd, said.

Cloud computing allows companies to use services, softwares and applications on a pay-per-use model without actually owning any hardware infrastructure or licence. This helps companies save on setting up IT infrastructure or purchasing licences.

"We shall leverage the alliance with CtrlS to break into the cloud data management service market and build out differentiated services," he said. Connect is a unified access services licencee in the Punjab telecom circle, which consists of Punjab, the Union territory of Chandigarh and Panchkula.

It also provides voice telephony, both wireline and fixed wireless, Internet services and broadband data services.
