Nissan Motor India's sales in May nearly doubled to 3,138 units, driven by the Micra hatchback and Sunny sedan. The Nissan Sunny was launched in India in September last year and 18,753 units have been sold since.Nissan Motor India's MD Ishida Takayuki said sales have remained strong despite the uncertainty in the auto industry following recent fuel price hike and general economic growth. He expects launch of new models like the utility vehicle Evalia, which goes into production at its Chennai plant later this year, will further drive sales. The company had also recently announced it will launch the affordable, value-focused Datsun brand in India in 2014. Datsun cars will be made locally and will play a crucial role in Nissan's India strategy envisaged in 'Nissan Power 88' - a comprehensive, six-year business plan for accelerating the company's growth across new markets and segments, it said. Also Read: Toyota Kirloskar May sales double; to hike prices from JuneNachiket Kelkar
