Bombay Store to double outlets by 2012-end, expand online

Bombay Swadeshi Stores, the oldest listed retailer in India, plans to almost double its number of outlets in India and is also expanding its presence on the internet, aiming to cash in on the increasing number of people shopping online.

    Bombay Swadeshi Stores, the oldest listed retailer in India, plans to almost double its number of outlets in India by 2012-end and is also expanding its presence on the internet to cash in on the online shopping mania.


    The company was started by freedom fighter Lokmanya Tilak in 1906 and is now known as The Bombay Store. It is also exploring opportunities to open outlets in international markets, Managing Director Asim Dalal told moneycontrol.com
