US President Donald Trump on Friday lashed out at the prolonged war in Ukraine, calling it a “terrible and senseless war” that has led to the deaths of “thousands a week.” Emphasising his long-held claim that the conflict could have been avoided, Trump said the war “should have never happened” and insisted it would not have broken out had he remained in office.
"Russia has to get moving. Too many people ere DYING, thousands a week, in a terrible and senseless war - A war that should have never happened, and wouldn’t have happened, if I were President!!!" he wrote on Truth Social.
“Russia has to get moving,” Trump wrote, suggesting mounting impatience with Moscow amid reports of stalled ceasefire talks. His comment comes just ahead of a planned meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff to discuss a possible path to peace, as well as wider geopolitical tensions involving Iran and China.
