In a special gesture, Saudi Arabia’s fighter jets escorted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Air India One plane as it entered the Saudi airspace.

Videos show F-16 fighter jets of Royal Saudi Air Force escorting the PM's plane before its landing in Jeddah.

PM Modi is on a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia where he is scheduled to meet and hold talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The trip aims to reinforce the strategic, economic, and cultural partnership between India and Saudi Arabia, building upon the progress made during Modi’s previous visits in 2016 and 2019.

He told Arab News in an interview ahead of his two-day visit to the country, "India and Saudi Arabia will keep moving forward together - for peace, progress and prosperity, not just for our people, but for the entire world."

PM Modi has hailed Saudi Arabia as one of India's most values partners, and a trusted friend and ally, describing the current period as promising times for their ties having a "limitless potential".

Noting that the two countries are working on a Bilateral Investment Treaty, he said the proposed Free Trade Agreement between India and GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) has immense potential to transform the economic relationship between India and Saudi Arabia, and the region in general.
