Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday turned the Gaza Summit in Egypt into a platform to lavish praise on US President Donald Trump, calling him a “man of peace.”

Sharif expressed gratitude to Trump for “stopping the India-Pak war” and announced his intention to nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize once again, crediting Trump with “saving millions of lives not only in South Asia but also in the Middle East.”

Trump, appearing amused by the compliments, responded with a smile, saying, “Wow! I didn’t expect that.”

While Trump seemed to enjoy the attention, Sharif’s remarks sparked criticism in Pakistan. Social media users accused the premier of excessive flattery, claiming his comments undermined the country’s image internationally.

What did Sharif say?

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif once again endorsed US President Donald Trump’s claim of preventing an India-Pakistan conflict. Speaking at the Gaza Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, Sharif repeatedly commended Trump for brokering the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas during his five-minute address.

“Today is one of the greatest days in contemporary history because peace has been achieved after untiring efforts led by President Trump, who is genuinely a man of peace,” Sharif said.

He added that, without Trump’s intervention, the military tensions between India and Pakistan “could've escalated to a level where no one would have lived to tell what happened.”

During the summit, Sharif described Trump as a “man of peace.” At one point, Trump paused his own address and turned to Sharif, asking, “Do you want to say something?” prompting the Pakistani premier to repeat his earlier praise. Trump smiled and encouraged him, saying, “Say what you said to me the other day.”
