US President Donald Trump has once again made claims that his administration has played a major role in preventing major war between India and Pakistan during a period of high tension in 2025.
He stated that the US intervened diplomatically and leveraged trade pressure to help de-escalate the situation between the two nuclear-armed nations.
“We stopped a lot of wars. And these were serious – India and Pakistan, that was going on. Planes were being shot out of there. I think five jets were shot down, actually,” Trump said.

Trump was referring to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives and led to a military standoff.
Following the attack, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7th, targeting nine terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Pakistan attempted to retaliate with drone and missile strikes on Indian cities, but India’s defense system successfully intercepted them.
