A Delta Air Lines flight en route to Atlanta was forced to make an emergency landing shortly after take-off from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Friday, after one of its engines caught fire mid-air.
Flight 446, a Boeing 767-400, had just taken off when flames were seen erupting from the left engine. In video footage that has since gone viral, the aircraft is seen climbing with fire visible on one side. The pilots acted swiftly, turning the plane around and landing it safely back at Los Angeles International Airport
No injuries were reported in the incident.

A Delta Air Lines spokesperson told the BBC that the aircraft returned to Los Angeles International Airport as a precautionary measure after receiving an alert indicating a potential issue with the left engine.
“Delta flight 446 returned to Los Angeles shortly after departure following an indication of an issue with the aircraft’s left engine," the spokesperson told the publication.
