The US State Department has suspended the issuance of all visitor visas for individuals from Gaza, citing the need for a “full and thorough review” of its procedures.
The announcement was made in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday. “All visitor visas for individuals from Gaza are being stopped while we conduct a full and thorough review of the process and procedures used to issue a small number of temporary medical-humanitarian visas in recent days,” the statement read.

Triggered by recent humanitarian cases
The move comes just days after Washington quietly granted a limited number of temporary visas to Palestinians from Gaza for medical treatment and other urgent humanitarian needs.
The State Department did not disclose how many visas were issued or what specific concerns prompted the sudden suspension.
