US releases drone video of Hamas looting aid truck in Gaza

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has released drone footage allegedly showing suspected Hamas operatives looting a humanitarian aid truck in southern Gaza. The video, recorded by an American MQ-9 surveillance drone, coincided with a visit to Israel by US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine, who met with Israel Defence Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir.

According to CENTCOM, the incident occurred on October 31 near northern Khan Younis and was detected by the US-led Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC) in Kiryat Gat, southern Israel.

The center, operating under US leadership, coordinates humanitarian, logistical, and security assistance into Gaza and assists in post-war stabilization efforts. About 200 American military personnel and allied troops are currently deployed at the facility.

“The US-led Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC) observed suspected Hamas operatives looting an aid truck traveling as part of a humanitarian convoy delivering needed assistance from international partners to Gazans in northern Khan Younis,” CENTCOM said in a post on X.

“Operatives attacked the driver and stole the aid and truck after moving the driver to the road’s median. The driver’s current status is unknown.”

The center said the looted vehicle was part of a larger convoy delivering humanitarian supplies from international donors to civilians in Gaza. CENTCOM added that over 600 trucks carrying aid and commercial goods have entered Gaza daily in recent days, warning that incidents like this “undermine these efforts.”

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also condemned the alleged looting, asserting that Hamas continues to steal relief meant for civilians. “Hamas continues to deprive the people of Gaza of the humanitarian aid they desperately need. This theft undermines international efforts in support of President Trump’s 20 Point Plan to deliver critical assistance to innocent civilians,” Rubio said on X.

“Hamas is the impediment. They must lay down their arms and stop their looting so that Gaza can have a brighter future.”

Israel has repeatedly accused Hamas of diverting humanitarian aid managed by the UN and other international agencies. The UN, however, has reported a significant drop in looting since the ceasefire began on October 10, with only about 5% of aid shipments intercepted, down from over 80% earlier in the year, according to spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric.

The current truce, part of US President Donald Trump’s “20-Point Gaza Peace Plan,” was designed to halt hostilities, facilitate hostage releases, and ensure consistent aid delivery. However, both sides have since accused each other of ceasefire violations, further complicating humanitarian operations in the war-torn enclave.
