The UK has expressed its readiness to assist India and Pakistan in easing tensions, following the most serious escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbours in two decades, UK Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said on Wednesday.
Speaking to BBC Radio, Reynolds stated, “We are a friend and partner to both countries. We stand ready to support them. Both nations share a vested interest in maintaining regional stability, encouraging dialogue, and avoiding further conflict. We’re here and willing to help in any way we can.”
Meanwhile, the UK Foreign Office issued a travel advisory urging British citizens to avoid travel within eight kilometers of the India-Pakistan border and within 16 kilometers of the Line of Control in Kashmir — a highly militarized zone. It also advised against all travel to Pakistan’s Balochistan province.
“We are closely monitoring the situation. British nationals should remain updated with our travel guidance and follow instructions from local authorities,” the advisory added.
