Trump calls Musk 'terrific' as he departs DOGE

US President Donald Trump announced that he will hold a press conference with Tesla CEO and his close aide Elon Musk on Friday (May 30) at 1:30 p.m. EST (5:30 p.m. GMT and 11:30 p.m. IST) in the Oval Office.

"I am having a press conference tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. EST with Elon Musk, at the Oval Office. This will be his last day, but not really, because he will always be with us, helping all the way. Elon is terrific! See you tomorrow at the White House," Trump posted on his Truth Social account.

This comes after Musk announced that he is exiting his role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency, i.e., DOGE. He posted on X that his tenure as a ‘special government employee’ in the administration has come to an end.

"As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President Donald Trump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending," he posted on X.

"The DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government," he further added.
