US President Donald Trump has said he is planning on making a 'major statement' on Russia on Monday.
“I think I’ll have a major statement to make on Russia on Monday,” Trump told NBC News in a telephone interview.
This comes as US is preparing to send new American weapons to Ukraine via purchases from NATO allies.
"I think I'll have a major statement to make on Russia on Monday," Trump told NBC News in a telephone interview, news agency Bloomberg reported.
In the interview, he also repeated his criticism of Russian President Vladimir Putin and condemned Russia’s ongoing aggression in Ukraine. He expressed support for a stronger sanctions package targeting Russia, which is being advanced by his close ally, Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.
Earlier this week, Trump again voiced his disapproval of Putin’s actions in the Ukraine conflict and suggested that additional sanctions were being considered.
“I’m not happy with Putin, I can tell you that much right now, because he’s killing a lot of people," Trump said. “We get a lot of bulls--t thrown at us by Putin. You want to know the truth. He is very nice all the time, but it turns out to be meaningless.”
