US President Donald Trump said that he is dis disappointed but not done with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the lack of ceasefire deal in Ukraine for its three year old war.
“I trust almost nobody,” he told the BBC, adding that he is “not done with” the Russian leader, hours after he threatened Moscow with sanctions.
Trump expressed optimism about the possibility of brokering a deal to end the war in Ukraine, stating on four different occasions that he believed such an agreement with Russia was within reach.
"We'll have a great conversation. I'll say: 'That's good, I'll think we're close to getting it done,' and then he'll (Putin) knock down a building in Kyiv," the US president said.
When asked whether he was finished engaging with Vladimir Putin, Trump responded: "I'm disappointed in him, but I'm not done with him. But I'm disappointed in him."
In response to a question about how he would persuade Putin to end the conflict, Trump replied: "We're working it."
He reiterated the pattern of conversations with the Russian leader, telling the BBC: "We'll have a great conversation. I'll say: 'That's good, I'll think we're close to getting it done,' and then he'll knock down a building in Kyiv.
