US President Donald Trump said he has a positive view of former President Bill Clinton and expressed frustration over what he described as attacks against him, after Clinton’s name resurfaced in connection with newly discussed Jeffrey Epstein files.

“I like Bill Clinton,” Trump said, adding that it bothers him “when somebody goes after him.” His comments came as attention returned to documents related to Epstein, the late financier and convicted sex offender whose connections to powerful figures have been under scrutiny for years.

Recent reporting and court filings have again highlighted the names of several prominent individuals who had past associations with Epstein. Among them is Bill Clinton, who previously acknowledged traveling on Epstein’s private jet multiple times in the early 2000s. Clinton has said he was unaware of Epstein’s criminal conduct and has denied any wrongdoing.

Trump’s remarks mark a softer tone toward Clinton than in past political exchanges, particularly given the long and often bitter rivalry between Trump and Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign. The former secretary of state’s name has also appeared in broader discussions surrounding the Epstein case, though no charges have been brought against either of the Clintons.

The Epstein files have continued to draw public and political interest, with calls from some lawmakers and commentators for greater transparency. While many names have surfaced in various legal documents over the years, being mentioned in records or flight logs does not in itself imply criminal activity.

Epstein was arrested in 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges involving underage girls. He died later that year in a New York jail while awaiting trial, in what authorities ruled a suicide. His death fueled widespread speculation and conspiracy theories, and litigation connected to his network has continued in the years since.

Trump’s comments suggest he is seeking to distance himself from broader efforts to link prominent political figures to Epstein’s crimes without clear evidence. As debates over the release and interpretation of related documents continue, the issue remains politically sensitive across party lines.
