US President Donald Trump said negotiations aimed at ending the Gaza conflict were showing unprecedented momentum, describing discussions with Middle Eastern leaders as “very inspired and productive.”
Trump, in his Truth Social post, talked about negotiations, which have been ongoing for four days, including participation from “all of the countries within the region,” with Hamas “very much aware” of the discussions and Israel informed at “all levels, including Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu.”
“There is more goodwill and enthusiasm for getting a deal done, after so many decades, than I have ever seen before,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. He called it “an honor” to be part of the talks, stressing the need to secure the release of hostages and achieve “a permanent and long-lasting peace.”
The president added that “everyone is excited to put this period of death and darkness behind them,” signaling cautious optimism as negotiations continue.
President Donald Trump said on Friday that he is close to finalizing a deal to end the war in Gaza and secure the release of hostages.
“It’s looking like we have a deal on Gaza. I think it’s a deal that gets the hostages back, it’s going to be a deal that ends the war,” Trump told reporters before leaving the White House to attend the Ryder Cup in New York.
While world leaders met at the United Nations in New York this week, the U.S. unveiled a 21-point Middle East peace plan designed to resolve the nearly two-year conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
The plan was shared on Tuesday with officials from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan, according to U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff.
