President Donald Trump shared a post from Elon Musk on Truth Social that appeared to mock the recent controversy over his administration’s national security team mistakenly including an Atlantic journalist in a Signal chat discussing U.S. military strikes on Yemen.

Musk’s post on X, formerly Twitter, read: “Best place to hide a dead body is page 2 of The Atlantic magazine because no one ever goes there.” He had shared a satirical Babylon Bee article titled: “4D Chess: Genius Trump Leaks War Plans To ‘The Atlantic’ Where No One Will Ever See Them.” While not a direct statement, Trump's repost signals his awareness of The Atlantic’s revelations after initially claiming he knew nothing about them.

The Atlantic had reported that top Trump officials inadvertently disclosed classified war plans in a Signal chat group, which included a journalist, just before launching strikes against Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth allegedly detailed targets, weaponry, and attack sequencing. While National Security Council spokesperson Brian Hughes confirmed the chat’s authenticity, he downplayed any security risks.

Democratic lawmakers labeled the blunder a serious national security breach and called for an investigation. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and others warned that mishandling classified information could constitute a federal crime. Screenshots from the chat also revealed Vice President JD Vance’s reluctance to support European allies, calling their reliance on U.S. military intervention “pathetic.”

While Trump initially denied knowledge of the leak, the White House later confirmed an internal review was underway. Concerns have also been raised over officials using Signal for sensitive discussions, with some messages reportedly set to disappear, potentially violating federal recordkeeping laws.

Despite mounting criticism, the White House stated that Trump continues to have confidence in his national security team. Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren called the use of Signal for classified discussions “blatantly illegal,” while others warned of possible legal repercussions for those involved.
