US President Donald Trump on social media said there would be “no deal with Iran except unconditional surrender”, as the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran entered its seventh day.
Trump added that Washington must have a role in determining Iran’s next leadership and said the son of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei would be “unacceptable.”
“There will be no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER,” Trump wrote.
“After that, and the selection of a great and acceptable leader, we, along with our brave allies and partners, will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction, making it economically bigger, better, and stronger than ever before.”
Trump concluded the message by saying “Iran will have a great future” and using the phrase “Make Iran Great Again (MIGA).”
War spreads across the region
The war entered its seventh day with multiple explosions reported overnight across Tehran, including in residential areas and near Tehran University, according to local reports.
Israeli aircraft also conducted strikes in southern and eastern Lebanon, including the town of Douris in the Bekaa Valley and areas in the southern suburbs of Beirut, expanding the geographic scope of the campaign.
At the same time, Iranian drones struck neighbouring Azerbaijan for the first time, according to reports, marking a widening of the conflict beyond the immediate Iran–Israel theatre.
Gulf allies face interceptor shortages
Iran has continued to launch missiles and drones targeting Gulf states including the UAE, Qatar and Bahrain, while Tel Aviv faced combined drone and missile attacks late on Thursday night.
US allies in the Gulf are rapidly running low on interceptor missiles used to shoot down Iranian projectiles, CBS News correspondent Margaret Brennan reported.
The strain on air defence systems comes after several days of sustained missile and drone attacks across the region.
Iran threatens broader economic disruption
Iranian officials have also escalated rhetoric.
Tehran warned of “more intense and widespread” attacks aimed at crippling the regional economy, echoing comments made by US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, who has adopted increasingly forceful language about the campaign.
Trump claims Iran’s military capabilities weakened
Trump said Iran’s military capacity had already been severely degraded during the ongoing operations.
“Iran is being demolished ahead of schedule and at levels people have never seen before,” the US president said, claiming the country now has “no air force, no air defence” and that its air force is “gone.”
Rising civilian toll
The fighting has also resulted in heavy casualties.
At least 1,332 people have been killed in US and Israeli attacks on Iran since Saturday, according to figures reported by Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency.
Fars also reported that two schools were struck by missiles in the town of Parand, southwest of Tehran.
Escalation since Operation Epic Fury
The conflict escalated after the United States and Israel launched Operation Epic Fury, targeting Iranian military infrastructure.
The strikes followed earlier tensions linked to regional security incidents and backchannel diplomatic exchanges between Washington and Tehran.
Since then, both sides have expanded operations beyond the initial strike zones, with attacks now reported across Iran, Israel, Lebanon and parts of the Gulf region.
