US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said his administration had restored America’s strength, claiming the country now has the “strongest border in the history of the United States” with “zero illegal aliens allowed” to enter.

In a national address outlining his administration’s 2026 agenda, Trump credited strict immigration enforcement and tariff policies for boosting economic growth and strengthening national security, while accusing the previous Biden administration of weakening border controls and undermining US interests.

“We have restored American strength,” Trump said, adding that his government had “settled eight wars” and re-established US influence globally.

Doubling down on the claim, Trump said, “I've settled 8 wars in ten months, destroyed the Iran nuclear threat and ended the war in Gaza, bringing for the first time in 3000 years peace to the Middle East.”

The president described tariffs as a cornerstone of his economic strategy, calling them his “most favourite word,” and said the measures had helped revive domestic manufacturing and improve economic resilience, despite disruptions to global trade and criticism over rising prices.

Trump also announced a one-time payment of $1,776 for US soldiers, saying the move was intended to recognise the service and sacrifice of the armed forces.

Reiterating his hardline stance on immigration, Trump said his administration would not allow undocumented migrants into the United States.

Reflecting on his return to the White House, Trump said he had inherited “a mess” from the previous administration and was now fixing it. “In a few short months, we went from worst to best,” he said, listing grievances ranging from border security and crime to trade policy and governance.

“For the last four years, the United States was ruled by politicians who fought only for insiders, illegal aliens, career criminals, corporate lobbyists, prisoners, terrorists, and, above all, foreign nations which took advantage of us at levels never seen before,” Trump said.

The address comes as Trump seeks to project leadership on immigration, national security, and the economy amid declining approval ratings, while continuing sharp criticism of policies pursued under the previous administration.
