US President Donald Trump claimed that the United States has “beaten and completely decimated” Iran and urged countries that receive oil through the Strait of Hormuz to “take care of the passage,” adding that Washington is ready to assist.
In a post on Truth Social, the US President said that the nations that receive oil through the narrow waterway should take responsibility for protecting the route, while Washington would assist in coordinating security efforts.
“The United States of America has beaten and completely decimated Iran, both militarily, economically and in every other way, but the countries of the world that receive oil through the Hormuz Strait must take care of that passage, and we will help — a lot," Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
He added that Washington would coordinate with other countries to ensure shipping through the waterway continues “quickly, smoothly and well.”
In an interview with NBC News, Donald Trump said that Iran “wants to make a deal,” but he is not ready to agree to one yet as the terms offered are “not good enough.” He added that despite Tehran’s willingness to negotiate to end the ongoing hostilities, any potential agreement would require stronger conditions.
