US President Donald Trump announced that American forces conducted a strike on a vessel transporting drugs from Venezuela in the southern Caribbean.
Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump said the operation targeted a “drug-carrying boat” and resulted in the deaths of 11 individuals he described as “narcoterrorists.”
President Trump claimed the boat was carrying drugs destined for the United States and that those killed belonged to a gang allegedly controlled by Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro.
He later provided additional details on Truth Social, confirming that no US personnel were harmed during the mission.

In a post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump stated that the military operation specifically targeted members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, a group associated with drug trafficking and organized crime. He noted that the vessel was in international waters while carrying illegal narcotics intended for the United States, which he said justified the intervention.
Trump also mentioned that he had been briefed on the operation by General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and highlighted the swift action taken by the US military.
The strike follows increasing military and diplomatic pressure by the Trump administration on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. In recent weeks, the US has ramped up its efforts, including a $50 million reward announced in August for information leading to Maduro’s arrest on drug-trafficking charges.
