Trump admin vows to press legal battle after Supreme Court blocks Fed Governor’s removal

White House confirms will press for Fed gov. dismissal in January

The Trump administration on Wednesday vowed to continue its legal fight to remove a sitting Federal Reserve governor, after the US Supreme Court blocked her dismissal and set a trial date for January 2026.

"President Trump lawfully removed Lisa Cook for cause," White House spokesman Kush Desai said in a statement, referring to the Fed governor, adding: "We look forward to ultimate victory after presenting our oral arguments before the Supreme Court in January."

Lisa Cook has challenged her removal in court, and currently remains a member of the Fed's governing board.
