2 Of India's Most Wanted Gangsters Arrested In Georgia, US, To Be Deported

Indian security agencies have arrested two of the country’s most wanted gangsters operating abroad, Venkatesh Garg in Georgia and Bhanu Rana in the United States, in a coordinated international operation carried out with the assistance of the Haryana Police and foreign law enforcement agencies.

Both men are expected to be deported to India soon. Officials said more than two dozen top Indian gangsters remain overseas, continuing to manage organised crime networks and recruit members from within India.

Venkatesh Garg’s criminal network

A resident of Narayangarh in Haryana, Garg has over ten criminal cases registered against him. He had been living in Georgia after fleeing India following his alleged involvement in the murder of a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader in Gurugram.

Authorities say Garg was actively recruiting young men from Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, and other northern states to join his syndicate. He was also running an extortion racket in partnership with gangster Kapil Sangwan, who is currently based abroad.

In October, Delhi Police arrested four of Sangwan’s shooters connected to a gunfire incident at a builder’s residence and farmhouse, an attack believed to be tied to Garg’s broader network.

Bhanu Rana’s link to Bishnoi gang

Bhanu Rana, originally from Karnal in Haryana, has been linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, one of India’s most notorious organised crime groups. Living in the US for some time, Rana’s operations reportedly stretched across Haryana, Punjab, and Delhi.

His name surfaced earlier this year during the investigation into a grenade attack in Punjab. In June, the Special Task Force (STF) in Karnal arrested two men carrying hand grenades, pistols, and ammunition, who later confessed that they were working under Rana’s direction.

The arrests of Garg and Rana mark a major success for Indian agencies in their ongoing crackdown on international crime networks that continue to influence operations back home.
