Ten individuals, including three Indian-origin men, were arrested by Texas’ Irving Police Department on October 14 in a sting operation targeting prostitution and human trafficking.
According to a report by Irving Weekly, the arrests were part of the department’s continuing efforts to combat exploitation and safeguard vulnerable individuals in the community.
The Irving Police Department said the operation focused on curbing the solicitation of prostitution, which is treated as a serious criminal offence under Texas law.
Authorities stated that solicitation of prostitution is classified as a felony, even for first-time offenders. If convicted, an individual can face up to two years in state jail and a fine of up to $10,000. The offence is defined as knowingly offering, agreeing, or attempting to engage in sexual conduct for a fee, regardless of whether the act or exchange of money actually occurs.
Police said undercover officers conducted the sting across multiple locations, including massage parlours and online advertisements, as part of a broader investigation into human trafficking networks operating in the Irving area.
