A British man has captured a mysterious object streaking across the sky while filming his dog playing fetch on the Malvern Hills near England's Worcester, triggering a wave of online speculation.

The footage, recorded by Andrew Clifton on August 2, shows a split-second flash of what appears to be a missile-like object under a cloudy sky. At full speed, the anomaly is almost impossible to spot. But when slowed down, it reveals a tubular shape with what looks like a blue cap at its rear, Gloucestershire Live reported.

Encouraged by friends, Clifton shared the clip in a UFO sightings Facebook group, where it quickly went viral, racking up millions of views. The video has since spread to other social media platforms, including X, with theories ranging from the mundane to the extraordinary.

Some viewers believe the object is simply an arrow or a firework, while others suggest it could be alien technology or even a top-secret military project, especially given the area’s proximity to an RAF base.

One user wrote: "What it is, it's flying fast and has a contrail behind it." Another commented: "Probably a firework. UAPs/UFOs do not use tech that produces a flame in their exhaust; not in any video I have ever seen." A third simply said: "This speed is insane."

Clifton said he didn’t notice anything unusual when filming his five-year-old Labrador, Dash.
"It was such a strange experience. It was moving so fast that there was no way I could pick it up with my naked eye. But when I got home from dinner with friends later that day, I was reviewing the videos from the day and noticed something small. That's when I edited the video into slow-motion and saw the object in full force for the first time," he recalled.

Addressing online speculation about possible AI fakery, Clifton said: "I've seen some people suggesting it's AI, but I can promise you the only editing I did was to slow the footage down. I think it's more likely to be some sort of military equipment that we don't know about. But it's true that whenever I watch it, I can't come up with a full answer as to what it is."

The true identity of the object remains unknown, and so does whether it belongs to the realm of science, military technology, or the unexplained.
