Texas Democratic leader Jasmine Crockett mocked Texas Governor Greg Abbott — who uses a wheelchair — by calling him 'Governor Hot Wheels'.
“You all know we got Gov. Hot Wheels down there. Come on, now,” Crockett, a Dallas Democrat, said about the Republican governor during a speech at the Human Rights Campaign event. “And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot-ass mess, honey.”
In 1984, Abbott was left paralyzed after a tree fell on him while he was out for a run, causing significant damage to his spinal cord. Now 67 years old, he was elected governor in 2014.
After facing backlash, Crockett took to social media to clarify, saying, "I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable."

Republicans have strongly criticized Crockett for her remark, with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton calling it "despicable," and Rep. Randy Weber (R-Texas) announcing plans to introduce a resolution to censure her.
