At least six people have been confirmed dead and one remains missing after a helicopter crashed into territorial waters in Qatar, according to a report by the Associated Press.
The crash occurred after the aircraft suffered a technical malfunction during a routine mission, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said in a statement on Sunday.
Following the incident, authorities launched a large-scale search and rescue operation. Specialised teams are currently combing the designated areas within Qatar’s territorial waters to locate the missing individual, the Qatari Ministry of Interior said.
Officials added that high-readiness units are working in coordination as part of the ongoing rescue efforts to ensure a comprehensive response.
