Amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, Moscow launched a record 479 drones in the one of the largest overnight drone attack, Kyiv's air force reported Monday, as Russia continues to reject calls for a ceasefire, according to AFP.

The Ukrainian air force said that it shot down or intercepted 460 of the drones, as well as 19 out of 20 missiles fired by Russia overnight.

The attacks usually start late in the evening and end in the morning, because drones are harder to spot in the dark.

Russia has relentlessly battered civilian areas of Ukraine with Shahed drones during the more than 3-year war. The barrages have killed more that 12,000 Ukrainian civilians, according to the United Nations reports news agency Associated Press.
