Film director Brett Ratner has surfaced in the latest batch of documents linked to Jeffrey Epstein, after a photograph included in the release began circulating online. The image, reportedly part of material made public through US court proceedings, shows Ratner seated alongside Epstein, with two women partially obscured in the frame.
Ratner is known in Hollywood for directing films such as the “Rush Hour” series and “X Men: The Last Stand”. More recently, he was reported to be associated with a documentary project focused on former US First Lady Melania Trump. His appearance in the Epstein-related files has once again placed him under public scrutiny.
Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted in 2008 of sex offences involving a minor, died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. In the years since, multiple rounds of court-ordered disclosures have revealed names, photographs and correspondence involving a wide circle of public figures, prompting renewed media attention each time new material is released.
The photograph in question does not in itself allege criminal conduct by Ratner. However, its publication has revived discussion of his past controversies. In 2017, six women accused Ratner of sexual harassment or misconduct in media reports. Ratner denied the allegations at the time, and no criminal charges were filed in connection with those claims.
The resurfaced image adds to the broader narrative surrounding Epstein’s social network, which included business leaders, politicians, academics and figures from the entertainment industry. The ongoing release of documents has continued to fuel debate over who associated with Epstein and in what capacity.
Neither Ratner nor representatives connected to him have issued a fresh public statement specifically addressing the newly circulated photograph. As with previous disclosures tied to Epstein, the release has prompted both intense online reaction and caution from legal observers, who note that appearing in documents or photographs does not automatically imply wrongdoing.
Still, the steady drip of new material ensures that the reputational impact on those named or pictured remains significant, even years after Epstein’s death.
