Enraged over being removed from a WhatsApp group, a man in Pakistan's Peshawar chased the WhatsApp group's admin and allegedly shot him dead.

Police reported that Mushtaq Ahmed was shot dead on Thursday evening (March 6) in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to a News18 report.

The accused, identified as Ashfaq has been charged with his murder, according to police documents seen by AFP and a local police official.

The incident took place reportedly after Mushtaq - the admin - removed Ashfaq from a WhatsApp group following an argument. The exact reason why he was removed from the WhatsApp group isn't known yet.

Mushtaq’s brother said that both parties had arranged to meet and reconcile but alleges that Ashfaq turned up with a gun and opened fire, killing his brother. Ashfaq was angry “in reaction to removal from WhatsApp group," according to his statement.

It is also being suggested that there could be a history of enmity between the two but the removal of Ashfaq might have acted as the trigger.

Abid Khan, a local police officer, said the brother of the deceased had lodged a complaint with police, accusing Ashfaq of fatally shooting Ahmed. Abid said the suspect fled the scene after shooting Ahmed dead and police were conducting raids to apprehend him.
