Top Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov has confirmed that an agreement has been reached for US President Donald Trump to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin “in the coming days.” According to Russian state media RIA Novosti, Ushakov stated that both sides have begun working on preparations for the high-level meeting.
This development follows US President Trump’s statement that he could meet with Vladimir Putin "very soon," after what he described as highly productive discussions in Moscow between his special envoy and the Russian leader.
The possibility of a summit was also part of a call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which, according to a senior source in Kyiv, involved NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte as well as the leaders of Britain, Germany, and Finland.
"There's a good chance that there will be a meeting very soon," Trump told reporters Wednesday at the White House, when asked when he would meet the Ukrainian and Russian leaders.
