PM Modi congratulates Nepal's interim PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated Sushila Karki on assuming charge as the interim Prime Minister of Nepal. Karki was chosen to lead the Nepali government days after deadly protests toppled the previous KP Sharma Oli administration last week.

PM Modi posted on his X account, “I extend my best wishes to Right Hon. Mrs. Sushila Karki on assuming office as the Prime Minister of the Interim Government of Nepal. India remains firmly committed to the peace, progress, and prosperity of the people of Nepal."

Sushila Karki took oath as the interim Prime Minister of Nepal yesterday, ending days of speculation over the leadership of the Himalayan nation following the collapse of the Oli government. She has become the country’s first woman head of government and is seen as a beacon of hope for citizens seeking a corruption-free regime.
