Pakistan interior minister Mohsin Naqvi repeated army chief Gen Asim Munir's analogy that India is "a shining Mercedes" while his country is a "dumper truck", inviting brickbats from the internet for humiliating his own country.
Naqvi, who was addressing a seminar in Lahore, recalled Field Marshal Munir's recent remarks in US where he spoke about the outcome of an India-Pakistan war with a rather self-defeating analogy.
"Field Marshal sahab said that India is a shiny Mercedes but we are a dumper truck - filled with stones and other debris. Now imagine what will happen to the Mercedes in case of a collision," Naqvi repeated, beaming at the crowd.
Naqvi also made boisterous claims suggesting that Pakistan knew "in advance" whatever India had planned during Operation Sindoor.
"India is a shining Mercedes. We are a dumper truck full of gravel. If we collide, you know the impact on Mercedes. Our field Marshal Munir says", says Pakistan's interior minister Mohsin Naqvi At least he admits it — Pakistan survives only by threats & collisions, not by… pic.twitter.com/CYmOyfeYCD— 𝐃𝐎 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬 (@donewstoday) August 18, 2025
The Pakistani minister was called out by the internet for repeating a shameful statement that shows his own nation in a poor light.
"Mohsin Naqvi gave stupid analogy by calling India “Mercedes” & itself “dumper truck”. He needs to learn optics & be sensitive of the meaning & implications of what he says. If COAS had said it, he should’ve stopped him from saying it again but he instead repeated it in public," one user remarked.
Another said: "A day without humiliation is a day wasted for Pakistan."
Naqvi's remarks come just days after Munir told a gathering in US about the implications of a war between India and Pakistan, implicitly acknowledging the global perception of his own country.
“India is a shining Mercedes coming on a highway like Ferrari, but we are a dump truck full of gravel. If the truck hits the car, who is going to be the loser?” Munir said during the event.
The analogy, which Munir himself described as "crude", drew colorful responses on social media with people "appreciating" the Pakistani army chief "for speaking the truth".
