Indian-Americans Anjali Sud and Sanjay Seth have been elected to key leadership roles at Harvard, joining the Board of Overseers and the Harvard Alumni Association, respectively.

Harvard has elected two Indian-American, Anjali Sud and Sanjay Seth, have been elected to University’s Board of Overseers and Harvard Alumni Association, respectively.

Anjali Sud has been appointed to Harvard University’s Board of Overseers, established in 1642, for a two-year term. She replaces former Canadian central bank governor Mark Carney, who stepped down from the board on March 9 after becoming leader of Canada’s Liberal Party.

While Sanjay Seth will be working for HAA, that focusses on enhancing alumni engagement, community-building, and volunteer leadership across Harvard’s global alumni network.

This appointment comes against the backdrop of tensions between U.S. President Donald Trump and Harvard University, following the administration’s threat to revoke the school’s SEVP certification over its enrollment of international students.

Who is Anjali Sud?

Anjali Sud, born in Detroit in 1983 to Punjabi immigrant parents and raised in Flint, Michigan, is a prominent Indian-American business leader.

She completed her finance and management degree from  University of  Pennsylvania and did her MBA from Harvard Business School in 2011.

She started her career from Amazon, Time Warner, and in mergers and acquisitions before joining Vimeo in 2012 as VP of Global Marketing. Then she became Vimeo’s CEO, steering its transformation into a video software platform and leading its public debut in 2021.

In 2023, she became CEO of Tubi, a free streaming service with nearly 100 million monthly users. She also serves as board chair at Change.org and sits on the boards of Dolby Laboratories and Phillips Academy Andover’s development board.

Sud was recently elected to Harvard University’s Board of Overseers, beginning a two-year term on May 30, 2025, succeeding Mark Carney. This board, established in 1642, plays a crucial role in overseeing academic and institutional reviews.

Reflecting on her journey, Sud credits her success to transformative education and hopes to support the next generation by helping shape the future of higher education. She lives in New York City and is a mother of two.

Who is Sanjay Seth?

Born in Australia, Seth holds dual master’s degrees from Harvard - an MPA from the Kennedy School and a Master’s in Urban Planning from the Graduate School of Design, both earned in 2019. He completed his undergraduate studies at Goldsmiths, University of London.

Seth has led climate policy efforts in various public roles, including as Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor for Climate and Equity at the EPA’s New England office. He previously managed climate resilience projects for Boston and contributed to similar initiatives in New York City.

At Harvard, he co-founded the Harvard Alumni for Climate and the Environment group and was a fellow with the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative. In his new HAA role, he will help strengthen alumni connections and support global engagement across Harvard’s network.
