India's envoy to the US, Vinay Kwatra, corrected CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer during a live interview when Blitzer referred to parts of Kashmir as "Indian-administered," amid the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan.
"First of all, I'm sorry, but let me correct you," Kwatra told Wolf Blitzer. "The entire Jammu and Kashmir is integral to the Indian part of India. The only issue to be resolved there is the return of the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir."
The discussion followed reports of explosions in the region. While Kwatra confirmed that India had received reports of such activity, he stated that "operational details" were not available at the time.
Kwatra also strongly defended India's military operation, Operation Sindoor, which was in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam. Calling the Pahalgam attack "the most heinous terrorist act," he emphasized that the goal was to hold the perpetrators accountable and bring justice to the victims.
He accused Pakistan of supporting terrorism, saying, "Pakistan has again chosen to stand with terrorists, rather than taking action against them." Kwatra expressed that Pakistan’s actions sent a message of alignment with terrorists, not with the global community in condemning such violence.
In response to Pakistan's denial of involvement in the Pahalgam attack, Ambassador Vinay Kwatra stated, "Denial and deflection have always been a part of Pakistan's strategy."
He added, "Pakistan tends to take responsibility for its actions in the future, not in the present."
When asked about the potential for escalating tensions between India and Pakistan leading to a nuclear conflict, Kwatra emphasized that the true concern should be Pakistan's ongoing support for terrorism.
