King Charles III has stripped his brother Prince Andrew of his remaining titles and ordered him to vacate his royal residence, Buckingham Palace confirmed, according to a report by CNN.
In a statement, the palace said Andrew will no longer be referred to as a prince and will instead be known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. The move follows renewed scrutiny over Andrew’s ties with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Buckingham Palace said a formal notice had been issued for Andrew to surrender the lease of his longtime residence, Royal Lodge, after which he will relocate to private accommodation.
CNN reported that Prince Andrew will relocate to a property on the £60million Sandringham estate, which is privately owned by King Charles III rather than managed by the Crown Estate. The move, which will be privately funded by the King, is expected to take place as soon as it is practicable.
The decision comes amid a fresh wave of controversy surrounding Andrew’s association with Epstein. A series of damaging headlines over the past two weeks reportedly pushed Andrew to renounce his titles, including Duke of York, as the monarchy sought to distance itself from scandals linked to his business dealings and personal behavior.
King Charles, who has largely avoided the scandal, was confronted by a heckler outside Lichfield Cathedral earlier this week. The man questioned the King about his brother’s connections to Epstein before being escorted away.
The controversy deepened with the posthumous publication of a memoir by Epstein accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre, Nobody’s Girl, in which she reiterated claims of sexual encounters with Andrew when she was 17. Andrew, 65, has repeatedly denied her allegations but withdrew from public duties after a disastrous 2019 BBC interview. He later paid millions in an out-of-court settlement in 2022 after Giuffre filed a civil suit against him in New York.
Giuffre died by suicide in April at the age of 41.
Andrew has lived at Royal Lodge for two decades under a 75-year lease signed in 2003 with the Crown Estate. He spent 7.5 million pounds ($9.9 million) refurbishing the property and pays a token annual rent. With no known income beyond his modest Royal Navy pension, questions have persisted about how he maintains the estate.
