US Vice President JD Vance cleared the air over Elon Musk’s future in the government, saying he will continue to play the role of an advisor to President Donald Trump.
Vance praised Musk’s ‘incredible’ efforts to review US government’s spending.
“I think what he has done is really incredible. People sort of forget that when he came in to the US government, we never had a full-scale effort to check if we are spending the American people’s dollar wisely,” he said in an interview to Newsmax TV.
The vice president further clarified that Musk will remain an advisor to both Vance and Trump.
“I think there is also an effort by the media to sort of say the Elon era is over and I think that is totally wrong. Now he has obviously the day job to run his companies but the DOGE effort will continue, Elon will continue, he will be an important advisor to me and Trump,” Vance said.
The vice president also added that the job of making the government more efficient has to continue, which according to him is "one of the most important mandates" from the American people.
Earlier, on May 29, Trump had said, "I am having a Press Conference tomorrow at 1:30 P.M. EST, with Elon Musk, at the Oval Office. This will be his last day, but not really, because he will, always, be with us, helping all the way. Elon is terrific! See you tomorrow at the White House."

Musk too had said that his time as a special government employee has come to an end.
“As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending. The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.”
