A 25-year-old man of Indian origin has been jailed in Canada after several female medical workers filed complaints against him in Mississauga.

The females have alleged that he used to fabricate illnesses and expose himself to have inappropriate contact with them, Peel Regional Police (PRP) said, according to media reports.

Officers say the accused, identified as Vaibhav, turned up at multiple clinics over several months this year, each time pretending to need medical help. Investigators allege his goal was to lure women doctors into examining him under false pretences.

PRP confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, noting in an official release, "The 12 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB) has arrested and charged a Brampton man in relation to an indecent act investigation."

Police further contend that the man not only exposed himself to female staff but also used a fake name during some of his visits. As the statement detailed, "The accused reportedly faked medical conditions in an attempt to have female physicians touch him inappropriately and, in some instances, used the alias of Akashdeep Singh while doing so," the statement said.

Vaibhav was taken into custody on December 4 and continues to be in prison while he waits for a bail hearing.

Media reports say that Vaibhav is currently facing several charges, including Indecent Act in a Public Place, Identity Fraud with Intent to Gain Advantage, Possession of an Identity Document as well as Identity Theft.

Detectives believe the number of affected staff may be higher and are appealing for anyone with information to step forward. PRP reiterated this call for assistance: "Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to contact the 12 Division CIB at 905-453-2121, ext. 1233," the statement concluded as saying.
