India has strongly criticised Pakistan after it objected to New Delhi’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty following the April Pahalgam terror attack, asserting that genuine cooperation must be “rooted in trust, not terror.”
Speaking at a United Nations Human Rights Council session in Geneva, Indian diplomat Anupama Singh accused Islamabad of politicising the forum by repeatedly raising the treaty issue. She said such actions undermine the Council’s integrity and distract from its core mandate.
"We are compelled to express our deep concern over the persistent and deliberate attempt by a particular delegation to politicise the proceedings of the council. Such actions not only undermine the integrity of this platform, but also seek to deflect attention from other core issues," she said.

She further accused Pakistan of “wilful violations” of the agreement’s core principles, noting that India remains firm that cooperation can only endure when anchored in mutual trust, not terrorism.
