According to reports, New Delhi recently cleared around $40 billion in arms purchases, including 114 French fighter jets and missiles. The visit follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to France in February 2025 and reflects continued momentum in the India– France strategic partnership.
Modi was the Guest of Honour at the Bastille Day Parade in 2023, while Macron attended India’s Republic Day celebrations in 2024. This will be Macron’s fourth visit to India at Modi’s invitation, with discussions expected to focus on artificial intelligence cooperation and emerging technologies.
