Randhir Jaiswal also acknowledged that Israeli authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
The attack on Monday claimed the lives of 21 people, including the five journalists. A sixth journalist from a local newspaper was killed in a separate strike in the same region. Media organizations have issued statements mourning the loss of their colleagues.
The World Health Organization (WHO) chief reported that four health workers were also killed in Monday’s attack on Nasser Hospital. Israeli forces carried out a “double tap” strike, with the second attack targeting the facility as rescuers arrived to aid victims of the first strike.
Footage captured the second strike, showing rescuers and journalists being directly hit. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the incident as a "tragic mishap" and stated that military authorities are investigating the matter.
According to AFP, citing media watchdogs, nearly 200 journalists have been killed since the war began in 2023.
