The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) initiated an unannounced exercise called “Dawn” on Sunday to evaluate the preparedness of its general headquarters and major command centers for potential large-scale attacks, the Jerusalem Post reported.
Led by Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Eyal Zamir, the operation aims to evaluate the IDF's speed and effectiveness in responding to large-scale attacks.
It includes unannounced scenarios and operations across all potential battlefronts. According to the Jerusalem Post, the exercise featured surprise scenarios and multi-scene events across all possible “theaters of war.”
IDF Comptroller Brig. Gen. (res.) Ofer Sarig and his team are monitoring the drill, evaluating both the speed and quality of the military’s response. “The IDF will continue to carry out inspections across all commands, branches, and units to improve competence and readiness,” the military said in a statement.

The exercise took place alongside ongoing IDF operations on multiple fronts. On Saturday night, the military reported targeting a Hezbollah terrorist in the Aynata area of southern Lebanon, accusing the individual of gathering intelligence on Israeli forces in breach of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon.
