A six-year-old girl of Indian origin was brutally attacked by a group of boys outside her home in Waterford, Ireland, as they shouted, "Go back to India." The assailants also struck her in the private parts.
This is reportedly the first known racist assault on an Indian-origin child in Ireland, although several unprovoked attacks on Indian nationals have been reported in the past. Earlier this week, the child was assaulted by a group of children in what appears to be another racially motivated incident targeting Indians in Ireland.
The victim’s mother, a nurse who has lived in Ireland for eight years and recently gained Irish citizenship, expressed deep anguish over the incident, stating that her family now lives in fear.
She told The Irish Mirror that her daughter was attacked by a group of boys aged between 12 and 14. “She told me five of them punched her in the face. One of the boys pushed the bicycle wheel onto her private parts, and it was sore. They said the F word and Dirty Indian, go back to India," she recounted.
“I saw the gang afterward. They were staring at me, laughing. They know I am her parent," she further added.
The Dublin-based news outlet reported that the attack took place when the mother went back inside to feed her 10-month-old baby. She then informed that when the girl came inside the house, she was upset, couldn’t even talk, and was so scared.
