Ghana helicopter crash: 8 people including Ghanaian defence and environment ministers killed, says govt

Ghana's military said that the helicopter took off Wednesday morning from the capital, Accra, toward Obuasi in the Ashanti region before it went off the radar.

Ghana’s government has informed that a helicopter crash on Wednesday has killed eight people including the nation’s defense and environment ministers.

The country's military said that the helicopter took off Wednesday morning from the capital, Accra, toward Obuasi in the Ashanti region before it went off the radar. It informed that five passengers and three crew members were on board the helicopter.

In a statement on X (formerly known as Twitter), Ghana Armed Forces said,  "A GAF helicopter. Z9 that took off this morning at 0912hrs from Accra and heading for Obuasi is currently off the radar. All efforts are being made to establish contact. On board were 3 crew and 5 passengers. Further details to be communicated soon."
