US Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised the coalition of Arab nations assembled by US President Donald Trump to resolve the Gaza conflict, emphasising that the group is dealing with terrorists, not a political movement.
In a post on X, Rubio wrote, "We're not dealing with a political movement, we're dealing with killers, savages, and terrorists. But what gives us hope is the coalition US President Donald Trump built that is pushing in the same direction with us to get the hostages released and the conflict resolved."

Rubio’s comments underline the US administration’s framing of Hamas as a militant organisation responsible for violence, rather than a political entity, and highlight the international cooperation Trump has mobilised to achieve a resolution.
Trump also commented on Sunday that talks between Hamas and “countries from all over the world” on releasing hostages and ending the war in Gaza had "been very successful, and proceeding rapidly."
"There have been very positive discussions with Hamas, and countries from all over the world (Arab, Muslim, and everyone else) this weekend, to release the hostages, end the war in Gaza but, more importantly, finally have long sought PEACE in the Middle East," he wrote on Truth Social.
Trump added that technical teams would meet on Monday in Egypt to finalise and clarify the remaining details. "I am told that the first phase should be completed this week, and I am asking everyone to MOVE FAST. I will continue to monitor this centuries old 'conflict,'" he wrote.
He further warned, "TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE OR, MASSIVE BLOODSHED WILL FOLLOW -- SOMETHING THAT NOBODY WANTS TO SEE!"
Meanwhile, Israel has committed to negotiating "with full commitment and determination" to secure the release of all hostages, according to the country’s coordinator for hostage affairs, who spoke to family members on Sunday evening, as reported by CNN.
Trump made the remarks during a gathering of service members and senior military officials celebrating the US Navy’s 250th anniversary. At the event, he referenced his ongoing efforts to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, noting that he is tackling "one [conflict] that's taken 3,000 years" and that progress is being made, though he refrained from discussing details until an agreement is finalised.
Addressing the assembled sailors, Trump added, "We don't want to send you into battle unless it's necessary, right? We're putting out a lot of fires," signalling his intention to avoid further military escalation while the negotiations progress.
